How do I get to the Isle of Wight?
There are lots of ways of getting to the Isle of Wight. If you want to come by car you can take a ferry from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, Southampton to Cowes and Lymington to Yarmouth. Alternatively you can cross the Solent as a foot passenger on the catamaran from Southampton to Cowes and from Portsmouth Harbour station to Ryde (this meets the London train). Lastly you can travel as a foot passenger on a hovercraft from Southsea, Portsmouth.
Please see our section under “contact us” which gives more details. Once you have decided which way to get here, we suggest you book your crossing particularly in the holiday period or at weekends.
Can I bring my pet (cat or dog)?
Many of our owners are very happy for your to bring your pet(s) but it is always best to ask us first!!
How do I pay for my holiday?
You can pay for your holiday by sending us a cheque, by bank transfer or by credit/debit transaction. You will be asked for a deposit of 30% of the total rental price to secure the property and then you will be asked for the balance of your holiday together with your security deposit 8 weeks before your arrival date.
Where do I get my keys from?
Many of our properties have key safe which we will give you the number for. However for those properties which don’t have a key safe you can collect the keys from The Pilot Boat Inn, Bembridge or we can arrange to meet you at the property.
Do I have to bring my own linen?
Most of our houses provide linen and towels for you. All the beds will be made up for you on your arrival. None of our houses provide beach towels, so if you wish to swim in the sea please bring your own.
What is a security deposit?
A security deposit is a sum of money which is held against your account. It is returnable on your departure once the property has been checked by one of our staff. It is in case of any damage or excessive cleaning required on your departure from the property.
Do I have to pay a aministrative charge?
Yes we charge an administrative fee of £25 which we charge when you pay the balance.
What can I do on the Isle of Wight?
The Island is a magical place for a holiday and offers a huge variety of things to do from enjoying the beautiful beaches to visiting historic houses or fun parks. We have recommended a few activities for you to visit on this website and each property has a folder which gives you further details.
What if something does not work or breaks while I am at the property?
If you have a problem at the property, please feel free to ring us on the emergency numbers we have left for you in the information pack. We will initially endeavour to help you on the phone but if necessary we will come out to the property or send someone to assist you (depending on the nature of the call out – there may be a small charge).
Can I hire a cot?
We are very happy to hire a cot or high chair for you. Some of our properties already have cots and highchairs provided.
Where can I do my shopping?
We try to provide you with a list of places to do your daily shopping in the information folder in your property. You will find a few useful items for your arrival at the property but you will need to get your own grocery supplies.
Can I bring an extra last minute guest?
At the time of booking we ask for details of guests, however we do understand that sometimes this can change! We would prefer you to ask us if you can have an extra guest for a night. Some owners are happy to accommodate an extra visitor but we would prefer to be able to ask them. Also it is important for us in case of an emergency to know who is staying at the property at any one time.
What time do I arrive and leave?
You can arrive at any time after 3pm on the date of arrival and you will need to leave the property by 10am on the departure day. This is particularly important during the holiday period but we are a little more flexible out of season!
What happens if I need to cancel my holiday?
We strongly advise you at the time of booking to take out some travel insurance to cover this eventuality. However if you cancel you holiday 8 weeks or before your arrival date, you will only lose your deposit. If you cancel within the 8 weeks and we are able to relet the property we will return your balance but not your deposit. However if we cannot re let the property you will forfeit the total cost of the holiday. Your security deposit would be returned to you.
